For over 30 years Queenscourt Hospice has been caring for patients with life-limiting illnesses across West Lancashire, Southport and Formby (a population of approximately 235,000).
Each year we provide Specialist Palliative Care for over 2,000 patients and support their family when they need us the most. We are a small local charity with a big reach and the demands for our services are ever increasing.
Queenscourt provides free access to Specialist Palliative Care either at home, in care homes, in hospital or in Queenscourt Hospice via the Inpatient Unit or as an Outpatient. Queenscourt at Home supports patients to be cared for in their preferred place of care.
We have an holistic approach to Palliative Care to ensure patients have their physical, psychological, spiritual and social care needs are assessed, and to provide access to multi-professional Health Care Team for specialist support.
We receive less than 19% of funding from statutory bodies and we rely on fundraising from the community, local businesses and charitable grants and trusts to ensure Queenscourt can continue to care for people when they need us the most.
Across the UK the demand for hospice care is increasing with over 300,000 people being cared for by their local hospice each year. And yet 1 in 4 people in the UK who need hospice care currently do not have access to it.
At Queenscourt our aim is to continue to provide a gold standard of care for patients at the time of their end-o- life diagnosis, throughout their journey and at end-of-life, whilst also supporting their loved ones pre and post bereavement.
